SECSD is responsible for the security of municipal buildings, facilities, parks, stores, yards and warehouses, the Los Angeles Civic Center, the Los Angeles Zoo, the Public Works Office, Sanitary Water Treatment Facilities, municipal libraries, municipal parks and all non-owner municipal facilities, their employees and visitors. The Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) provides security for people, property, and information essential to the State Department`s role in maintaining a diplomatic presence and conducting foreign policy around the world.

The mission of the Division of Security Services (SECSD) is to ensure the safety of City of Los Angeles facilities, elected officials, employees and the public. As a dedicated team of sworn and civilian personnel, we provide law enforcement, security and surveillance technologies to detect and deter criminal activity. The DSS dates back to World War I, when U.S. Secretary of State Robert Lansing officially established the State Department`s first Security Office on April 4, 1916. We have built a reputation based on our concierge service. Diplomatic Security is the federal office of law enforcement and security of the U.S. Department of State. Providing diplomacy and protecting the integrity of U.S. travel documents, the Diplomatic Security Service has the largest global reach of any U.S. federal law enforcement agency, with offices in 29 U.S.

cities and more than 270 locations worldwide. The CDHS has three main components: the police component; the security officer component; and the Contract Security Officer component. The police component is responsible for all law enforcement activities with respect to certain City facilities. The second component consists of unarmed security guards who are employees of the city. These full-time, “as required” unarmed emergency preparedness officers (part-time and part-time) hold permanent positions in various municipal facilities and rely on the police component to answer any questions deemed relevant to law enforcement. The third component, contractual security, consists of private security forces. Responsibility for managing the contractual security of municipal facilities rests with DSEDS. In addition to the two aforementioned laws, there are many health and safety laws for compliance, such as the Forest Act 1952, the ESI Act 1948, the Payment of Gratuities Act 1972, the Workers` Compensation Act 1923, the Premiums Act 1965, the Payment of Wages Act 1936, the Minimum Wage Act 1948 and the Factories Act 1948.
